Learning about our solar system inspires tamariki, ignites their imagination and encourages a long term fascination about our natural and physical world.
We look at where they like to play, who they play alongside and how we can support them through transitions. We also look at which kaiako they feel close to. A settling story will help us set the first learning goals.
As a group, the teachers will take notes of your child’s strengths and interests, noting any areas that we can support them to develop further. We ask for your aspirations for your child and through building strong relationships with whānau, we can learn about what is important to you as a family.
Through our constant cycle of planning assessment and evaluation, we can judge when we need to consult with others to support any additional needs your child might have. Thus, ensuring they are growing to their full potential whilst in the care of Pōhutukawa Kindergarten.
During your child’s time with us, we collect a range of assessments and documentation of their learning journey. This is developed into a beautiful kete ako (a learning basket) in the form of a book or portfolio that is available at all times for children and whānau to read and contribute to. Teachers record magic moments, individual learning assessments, group experiences and examples of learning throughout your child’s time with us.
